"Peter Parker is kissing a woman. What is so terrible about that?"

While it makes sense within the story, it's might be a bit much to ask an audience to go from weeping over the demise of the marriage one issue to Peter playing tonsil hockey with a Brand New Skank the next.

Looking at that page, though, almost makes me respect JoeQ a little bit.  He's not just saying "F#*k you!" to readers who loved the marriage.  He's saying "F########********K YOOOOOUUUUU!!!!!"

Nothing.  But the entire purpose of the reboot was to make the book more appealing to a younger audience and that doesn't do it.  Besides, that scene is the first scene of the first issue of the "new" rebooted Spider-Man?  That's what it was all for, just to see him hook up freely?

I guess I don't have to contact my LCS to pull BND for me.  I love the Mes-que-to pic.  I'm still not convinced this is worse than Superboy punching the walls of reality.

Let me tell you about a guy.  He is in his early twenties, and he still lives at home because he cannot support himself.  He needs someone to wake him up, cook breakfast for him and get him started on his day.  He drops out of college every three months, can't hold a job for more than a few weeks, has no career path but always acts like he has everything under control and has something just over the horizon.  Despite all this, he still has time to hit the clubs at night and try to play the field.  Oh, he also just bought a motorcycle that he can't afford because he thinks it would make him cool with the ladies.

No this isn't the 1970's Peter Parker, it is a guy that I know called Erik that everyone thinks is a completely irresponsible loser with no future who even might have jail time in his near future.

Erik is the new Peter Parker that Joe Quesada has given us because this is the one that he thinks he grew up with in the 70s and thinks is the "definitive" version.  This is the guy that you see in that preview.  This is a guy that I wouldn't want to be like, wouldn't want to hang out with, and when I have kids, I wouldn't want them to look up to.

While I agree that the marriage probably shouldn't have happened, the married Peter Parker is more in tune with the original, responsibility-driven Peter Parker that Stan gave us than this guy is.

Wha? How did you get that from the preview?

I think you have to forget about old fanboys like me and get comics back to an all ages type book.  Make a deal with Wal-Mart and get those things distributed to the kids of the country.
I'm not reading Spider-Man to get marriage tips or see three pages of an adult Peter Parker teach.  I miss the old Spider-Man who was out swinging after The Vulture or taking down Kraven.
There are comic book problems and then there are real life problems.  If you want to read about real life type problems go pick up a Jodi Picoult (my wife loves them) book.
I don't necessarily like a deal with the devil, but if it gets us back to a free wheeling Spider-Man who's out kicking butt while worrying about how to pay the rent, well fine by me. I'll just pretend it didn't happen in a couple of months and then enjoy a single  Spider-Man.

I was thinking more along the lines of Quephisto.  But yours works too.

Wha--?  Never mind, I don't think I want to know.
