Funny to think this all started with an issue of GODZILLA.

There was a story in which the SHIELD Helicarrier crashed, and basically
what we got was this supposedly gigantic machine sitting in San Francisco
Bay, looking like somebody had dropped a child's toy in a puddle.
Remembering an episode of CAPTAIN SCARLET on which their Helicarrier
avatar, Cloudbase, had crashed, I knew the crash of the Helicarrier should
be a much, much bigger deal.

Problem was, I didn't have anywhere to put such a story. Until someone
suggested I do a She-Hulk graphic novel, and casting about for
something spectacular to make this "bigger" than a standard issue, I
asked if I could crash the Helicarrier. And I did.

I must say that this issue has a very special place in my heart. It must be my favorite She-Hulk story ever, and the explanation of my love for the character.

The art is great, I just love the story.
There’s everything in this comic. First, it’s long, then there’s action, fun, nice places, a very sexy scene, drama at the end …

And the crushing of the heli-carrier !! What a great piece of comic.

What can we expect more ?

Too bad this was only a one shot.

A great example of a self contained story that had important ramifications.  The cover alone was enough for me to pay the money.  The interior story was extra bonus.  JB, you and Roger Stern both did wonders for this character.

For a long time, for me, GRAPHIC NOVEL = painted art (because my first GNs were DREADSTAR and MARADA).   So, I was always a little disappointed to pick up a GN and find out it was "just" an oversized comic.

I really enjoyed Kim DeMulder's inks on JB here. It was around this time (or
shortly after) that Al Gordon, Jerry Ordway, and Bob Wiacek were inking JB in
the FF and AF, and I didn't think that any of them captured JB's style as well
as DeMulder did here.

JB; were you pleased as well?

That cover, by the way, was a composite. I looked at two different models to
get the musculature right. I was quite impressed when Jack Morelli, seeing
the piece in the office, was able to name both women! (I can't, any longer.)

It was done with ink and pencil crayon, btw.

Somehow, I completely missed this graphic novel. Didn't even know it existed. Which is strange because 1. I'm a big John Byrne fan and 2. Loved his treatment of She-Hulk during her FF days. This graphic novel would've been a must-have - how on earth did I not hear about it?!?

It looks fantastic, though.
