I love seeing "wear" and heavy shading from John as this seems to add weight and power to his already weighty and powerful art. So it's really nice to see the addition of the drop shadows on this piece, right the way down to his sig oval.

••

Not an altogether unfair description, unfortunately!

(LEGENDS sidebar: Yesterday my housekeeper was here, and with her was
her current assistant, a very cute and bubbly Hispanic gal. A couple of visits
back I had given her a signed copy of one of the trade paperbacks I have
lying around, to give to her husband who is a fan. Well, turns out she had
no idea how much of a fan -- or that her brother was also a fan. So this
visit, I gave her one of the hardcover Spanish compilations of LEGENDS for
her sib. I knew there was a reason I hung onto those foreign editions!)

Well, if you're giving stuff away, can I come and clean your house too?

JB,

Do you get comped coppies of most of your work that is published in a foreign language?  Great job spreading the love, by the way!

Firestorm was an interesting favorite whose comic I was intrigued to read when I was young. His unique firetop and unusual powers were an original addition to DC and Marvel's offerings back then. That's a great drawing like the Iron Man commission you did previous, JB.

JB, have you drawn Firestorm before?

••

Yes, in LEGENDS

That explains it -- LEGENDS -- great art, forgetable story!  What was the point of that book again?

Andrew, here is hoping there are more surprises in stire.  Always nice to see John tackle characters he is NOT associated with.  That's led, imo, to some of the best commisisons in the lot

Not a character I've ever cared about. But a very nice drawing. The costume looks much better in black-and-white.
