Any affinity for Firestorm JB?

••

I can think of a few hundred other characters who would be higher on my
list. I pitched a FIRESTORM project a few years back, mostly because
everything else seemed to be taken, and I thought there was enough in the
character that I could find some interesting things to do with him. Typically,
I was told Firestorm was "already in development", and nothing happened. A
while later, an editor contacted me about being penciler on an antirely
different FIRESTORM project -- also typically, the one that was "in
development" had come to naught -- but there were too many unknowns
(the editor, the writer, their take on the character), so I passed.

Besides Batman (because who doesn't think Batman is the best character ever?!), Firestorm has to be the most intriguing DC character to me.  Very cool costume design.  The enrgy effects around his hands look great!

I truly wish you had done your take.  That Firestorm that was "already in development", or rather the one that eventually came to pass, is a poor copy of the original, IMO.

hu ?!  Firestorm isn't Ronnie Raymond anymore ? Can anyone bring me up to date (Firestorm was published in France some 20 years ago at the same time as Crisis, then it suddenly stopped, so ...)

As I recall, Ronnie was replaced by a Russian character during the late eighties (have no idea how or why)...

Firestorm was in limbo for a few years, then reappeared at the tail end of Morrison's JLA (as Ronnie and Professor Stein), killed during Identity Crisis, and ressurected a couple years ago with a new 'host', Jason something.

I think the Conway/Broderick run from the early eighties is a great example of comics done right, pure entertainment.

Love it. I'm not very familiar with the character but his look is so great that
it's a shame he never prospered into much.

I thought he looked way cool in Legends -- maybe it's cuz he looks more
like a Marvel character than a DC one...?

Firestorm is one of the key contributors to my love of comics....despite the fact that I knew almost nothing about the character as a kid and to this day I have probably read less than five comics featuring the character!  Let me explain...

The Super Powers action figure.  As a kid I knew nothing about the character and didn't even remember his name after discarding the packaging to the figure.  But I loved the way he looked!  I created my own name for the character (Nutomic....pronounced New-Tomic....hey, I was seven!) and my own set of powers for him.  Years later when I learned more about the actual Firestorm I was disappointed, I like my version better.  Firestorm is basically DC's version of Molecule Man right?  He can basically do anything with any type of matter.  Too vague for me to really be interested in the character.

Anyway, I love the visual of the character in general and it is a pleasure to see JB's version of......Nutomic!  =0)

Fun character!  Firestorm was probably the Flash of the 80s.

One of the best single character commissions!  Love the shadows.

And look at that right leg!

You're right Jeremy : in spite of all the respect due to such iconic characters as  DC's, Marvel's looks are far more coool (IMO).

Some characters created in the 80's like Firestorm or Cyborg have a Marvel touch in their look I think ...
