Al, the point is that it's a real, genuine interview with Joss Whedon.

Whedon did write the "You're a dick" line. He said it himself, in the Onion AV
Club interview.

He also cops, in the same interview, to writing the "What happens when a
toad is struck by lightning?" line.

Damn, if Whedon comes back to Astonishing X-Men after Ellis and needs an artist...

If it's true his "contribution" to the first X-Movie was Wolverine's "You're a dick" line to Cyclops, he can look elsewhere. Top marks for BUFFY and ANGEL. Minus several million for that one.

What is your objection to the line, JB? I don't think Cyclops is a dick, but I certainly think it's very in-character for Wolverine to think so, especially upon first meeting. Just two guys that are always going to rub each other the wrong way. . .

Yes, Zaki, it really does, and did.

Though I'm glad you've finally realized that putting the word serious in
quotations is exactly how to go about ensuring that no-one takes it
seriously.

******

No, Al, it really doesn't, and didn't.

The only thing I realized is that your tunnel-vision because of my quotation marks, which were perfectly appropriate given the context, were blinding you to the broader point which I, and others, were trying to make.

So I gave the baby his bottle.

I'm not saying that Whendon didn't write that line.

I'm just saying I reject the notion of the Onion AV Club being a reputable
source of any information.

No need for people to get twisted out of shape about that.

Except Zaki. He can get as twisted out of shape as he likes.

It's funny how they took that line and kept it, yet divorced it completely from the delivery, tone, and context which he intended.

It certainly does, Zaki, and certainly did.

But I really appreciate the "baby his bottle" line.

He gets at least a few hundred thousand back for FIREFLY and SERENITY.
