Hadn't heard that about that line. Here's hoping it's as "accurate" as the
average Bad Byrne story.

On the Messiah Complex story -- I haven't bought X-Men in a few years and thought I'd pick it up because it has Silvestri art and I've heard good things about Brubaker:

Could have used a half-dozen panels identifying the villains.

The coloring was so muddied I felt pulled out of the book (Nightcrawler in the X-Wing really jolted me).

I've heard this is the first appearance of the post-Whedon Cyclops -- maybe Emma Frost has cleared up the issues he has had since he left his pregnant clone-wife for Jean Grey.

Did not enjoy it -- won't be back.

The thing I like about Cyke (demonstrated well during the Claremont/Byrne run) is that he's the quintessential leader, confident and strong, yet very human.

His struggle to 'keep it together' once he thought Jean died in the battle against Magneto really touched me. His fierce and unflappable devotion to her during the Dark Phoenix saga was beautiful.

Cyclops was easily my favorite X-men team member for years. I never got over a powerless Storm beating him for team leadership years ago. What a bunch of B.S.

Cool rendition of Cyclops' costume by Mr. Byrne!

If I recall correctly, it was later revealed Madelyne's demonic powers manipulated the outcome of that match.

I think that as they started to show Scott lose some of his confidance and assuridness back around the Secret Wars era, when he was kind of a "third wheel" for the team who had a new field leader, was a high point for him as a charachter. It showed him as being a litle less wooden than he seemed before.

I guess that this can go along with the arguement about if a charachter is a certain way for 150 issues, and then changes for the next 500 issues, what way is "in charachter"?

As for favorite costume, I liked the one he was shown in in the OHOTMU (delix edition I think) from right before X-Factor was released. I don't think I ever saw him in it in any actual appearance though. I can't seem to find an image though

If it's true his "contribution" to the first X-Movie was Wolverine's "You're a dick" line to Cyclops, he can look elsewhere. Top marks for BUFFY and ANGEL. Minus several million for that one.

Assuming that the Onion AV Club hasn't misquoted him, it's his line.

Why would it be BS that she won? All Cyclops really had was his optic blast. The environment was completely to Storm's advantage.

If they had been in an empty room and she had no means to dodge or block the beams, sure, or if they arm wrestled for it, it would've been BS. But that would've required no strategy would it?

 QUOTE:
Everyone here who has ever read any of my posts concerning the X-Men & Cyclops knows that I've been of the opinion that with the exception of JB's X-Men: The Hidden Years, I haven't seen Cyclops written in character since before his X-Factor days.

Michael i've always thought (imo) that Cyclops hasn't been in character since the "Eve of Destruction" storyline(or was it Eve of extinction?) and even more so since Whedon's "Astonishing X-men" series i jokingly use to say that Emma Frost has "psychically" taken his man-hood and i've been waiting for Jean to come back and kick her ass and knock some sense back into Scott and hopefully he'll return to his former self.

Remember when Scott was the cool one? Before the changing audience decided it was o-so-uncool to possess the kinds of qualities he was known for -- decency, honesty, quiet nobility. . .

I always thought of Scott as The Guy Who Feels More Pathos Than Anyone Else. That was his defining characteristic, at least to me.

I'm im the minority here, but I always preferred Cyclops' open-haired look. Mind you, without the pouches and such. But then again I felt that way about all of the original X-Men, especially Jean.
