Nice one! The rendering makes all the difference. The Cassaday illustration (at least I think it's Cassaday) is a bit staid and stiff, giving the costume a somewhat bland appearance; JB's pic is basically the opposite.

One of the things that works about a design like this is that it is more "practical" than a standard superhero suit, but does not work hard at denying that it's a superhero suit. It echoes the uniforms of the movies, for instance, without pushing to look like super-hip street clothes, as the movie costumes do.It still says "superhero costume", not "rock star" or "MATRIX leftover".

I could even live with the X Factor #67 suit if it just had the full head. I always thought Scott's uniform kinda reflected a lack of imagination on Scott's part? It got WAY too flamboyant!

Lack of imagination, or straight-laced nature?

I think the important word there is "uniform." Wouldn't Scott think of it that way, rather than as a costume?

Straight laced would fit, he's been all business, no time for frivolities.

Cool piece JB.
Me too it's my favorite Cyclops costume since the one Dave Cockrum, you or Paul Smith and JRjr draw teaming with Claremont.

I like the scuba gear look. Then again, I think Frogmen are plain cool anyway.
