How about a Superman against a non mind controlled Green Lantern?*  The ultimate weapon against the ultimate power?  Which would prevail?

*Green Lantern Hal Jordan of course!

I always thought that GL would easily beat Superman, assuming of course that he could make Kryptonite with his ring.

Larry and Andy, you guys should seek out DC Comics Presents #26 (1980) which features a great Superman/Green Lantern team-up (and fight). And yes, kryptonite does make an appearance at some point.

Wallace: If Captain Marvel is a being of magic, that's how it should work, but
confrontations between the two haven't been portrayed that way in the past.
There's no way DC would allow Cap to have such an advantage over
Superman.

Brian: Why should it?  The magic that powers CM doesn't give him the magical ability to cause damage, otherwise every villain he punched would suffer that fate.

---

If Captain Marvel himself is a being of magic his super strong punches should have the same affect on Superman as they would on a normal person.  I believe that Michael's explanation of the way DC has chosen to portray him is the correct one.

Superman fought Sinestro in World's Finest #254, and may have gone up against him again in DC Special Series #6, a JLA vs. Secret Society story.

Superman and Captain Marvel battled Sivana in DC Comics Presents Annual #3, in which Sivana was endowed with Marvel powers, and we briefly saw Superman Jr. and Batman Jr. take down Sivana in their final appearance in World's Finest #263.

Although we've seen Hyperion take on Thor a couple of times, I'd still like to see Superman in Asgard battling against Ymir, Surtur, and the Destroyer, armed with the Odinsword. Also the Negative Zone.

Okay, this is sort of like battling Ymir and Surtur...

Wow, never read those issues. Thank you, Brian.

That is why I post topics like this. There's always someone who knows something you don't. I look forward to posting the Batman VS ? topic soon.

Hey, Robbie, if Hal can create green krytonite, can Sinestro conjure Gold K?  And if he does, isn't (the Pre-Crisis) Superman's career and existence pretty much over?

Gold K is the one that can wipe away a Kryptonian's powers forever, right? If so, then yes, Sinestro is quite the foe. Interesting comment, Brian.

That's a great Gil Kane cover on DC Presents Annual 3. Who is that fellow
in green?

That's Dr. Sivana - he usually wears a white coat.

I'd like to see a battle between a 1938 power level Superman and the original Wonderman. (outside the courtroom).
