I commissioned Dave Wachter to do another reimagining of a childhood fave for me as well as having him do a Dr. Strange piece for my pal..... his first piece of original comic-related artwork. Dave does some good stuff.

I had been completely unaware of Jeremy Bastian or his work prior to attening the CGSSS 2011 in April. The moment that I saw his art, I was blown away by the intricate detail that he fits into each and every page he produces. This print is a fine example of his skills. Sadly, much of the minute touches he put into it has been lost, despite a high resolution scan. The reason for this is that his technique for giving the paper an aged look involves using wet teabags, which warp the page and don't allow the scanner to make direct contact with the whole piece. I could stare at his work for hours and it doesn't lose the facination that it holds for me. Check out his Cursed Pirate Girl series. Trust me, you'll have an experience that you've never seen in comics before. I've NEVER before seen this much detail in the medium.

Final piece from the CGSSS 2011 is the continuation of my DD Jam piece, begun with a Raney Daredevil last fall.... Lee Weeks dres Kingpin much larger than I had requested, but it seems strangely fitting:

Nice heads-up Fred. I'll check out Jeremy Bastian's work next week at Motor City con. Seems he's a Detroit-area man...

Yeah, he is tight with David Peterson, Katie Cook and the Ann Arbour group. That Nemo print is truely staggering to see up close. Have fun!

I'm not familiar with Dave Wachter, but those two pieces are great.

Fred, I've heard of people using wet teabags to age paper before. That looks fairly great even with lost detail.

I picked this up from Mike McKone in Seattle. Now that the book has been released I can share.
