I just submitted my first commission request to Gene Gonzales as part of his latest "Conventionless Convention Sketch" series. Thanks to Charlie Ramirez and some of the other John Byrne Forumites (I started with JBFers, but that didn't sound right...) who have posted Gene's work here for cluing me into his existence. Now I wait with bated breath!

JSA SpectacularPencils and inks by John Watson
Commission by John Watson---the idea started as kind of a mash-up between a hypothetical early Seventies-era 'Crisis' story with covers by Neal Adams and the iconic X-Men 141 cover by John Byrne, and evolved into this spectacular cover. I especially like the hint of George Reeves in the Superman of Earth-Two.

I’m pleased to unveil the commission that Brent Anderson drew in the end pages of one of my bound volumes of the Uncanny X-Men. After seeing scans of his prelims and full pencils over the past couple of months, I’ve been waiting patiently for the final while Brent has been busy with Astro City and his other professional work. It was clearly well worth the wait since the final piece is fantastic! Here's a small scan and you can check out the full-size version on my blog at Planet Kraalo.

Yes, Charlie, the Emma Frost by Gene Gonzales was for me and so was the Jean Grey that was posted to his blog this morning. Two more redheads to come from Gene, so keep an eye out.

For those of you who haven't already ventured over to Gene Gonzales' blog, here are the two sketches he's finished so far. Stay tuned for two more redheads.
