I totally missed the Hembeck redo of that classic Galactus cover on the previous page!  Very nice!

I agree, William, the Hembeck remakes are always a nice piece of eye candy. To be honest, I hadn't even really heard of him until I started spotting his cover remakes in here. Now I just know that I'll have to get me some of his stuff some day. Very enjoyable.

And yes, it didn't hurt to see him tackle a JB cover. More of that folks. There are so many great JB covers that'd be interesting to see interpreted by the great Hembeck.

Batman and Penguin, by Bob Kane (1991)

Here's a sketch I picked up recently.  Kane's Batman looks great, but I especially like his Penguin here.

BTW, Ari, I love that Kubert Sgt. Rock--absolutely beautiful!

Cool piece, Andrew. I love the simple "Pop!" while a bunch of people are exploding in the background.

Joe - is that a JB cover? And if so, was it just the cover or the inside as well? I wasn't aware that he'd done anything with this character, which I like a lot.

Joakim,

For that issue I think JB only did the cover.  He wrote a couple issues and did the covers for a couple issues.  Check the checklist page of this very website!

Note on that cover --- here we see why it is a bad idea to have a "cover
editor" and not simply leave that job to the editor of the book, as it was for
many decades. I turned in that sketch, and PK liked it just fine. Then he
handed it off to the cover editor who said "Pull the camera back. Show more
of the bike. Add some figures." Which I did. Result -- much weaker image.
