Brace yourselves. I'm predicting this one will be polarizing. I'm guessing you'll either roll your eyes in annoyance at this piece or it will bring a nostalgia-filled smile to your face.
Thanos (with Infinity Gauntlet) vs The Beyonder by Ron Frenz:
I got the idea for this piece a couple years ago. I thought about several different artists to pull it off and even inquired with a couple before settling on Frenz. Frenz is one of the few artists that really epitomizes how I think comics should look and his style reminds me of the comics of my youth. For this piece I requested a menacing looking Beyonder, not the guy smiley guy in white sweatpants. He did draw The Beyonder at least once: on the cover of the FF comic they dubbed SECRET WARS III. How did Marvel never do one of their event crossovers featuring their two omnipotent antagonists? I just missed SECRET WARS when I got into comics so I grew up thinking of it as something much more intriguing than it actually was. I was about ten or eleven when THE INFINITY GAUNTLET was published. In other words, I'm the right age to think this is a really cool concept! When Marvel comes out with their 12 part SECRET WAR OF THE INFINITY GAUNTLET just remember who invented the idea!

Very impressive Joe! That's a pretty solid-looking Thanos there. Roger, I like the Jeff Moy sketch cards! He's one of the many things I miss about SDCC (prior to mega-crowds & hotel stampedes). Uploads for today: Ben Edlund - The Tick, SDCC 1990

A couple of Gabriel Hardman pieces I was lucky to recently get. The mummy piece is something that he did for the Emerald City Comicon.
The X-Men as they were when I first started reading it (163ish, I think).

Joe, I LOVE the Beyonder piece! I'm surprised you have Thanos instead of Darkseid, but it's awesome! I'm very much a child of Secret Wars, so color me jealous!
