Love the Trimpe Godzilla!

As noted, Baltazar is a favorite of mine and I've got several sketches from him....nothing as ambitious as those cover redos though!  Fantastic!

I guess I did sort of have him do a cover redo for me in 2008:

Joe - I like this!!!!  Great cover redo in Art style.  I will bet that is from a Marvel Team Up #68, with Spidey and Man-Thing.  I remember buying that issue.  I loved Man-Thing where he vs. the Micronauts.

Thanks Bill.  I was 10 when Godzilla came out in Marvel Comics and NBC Saturday morning cartoons.  Saturdays are not the same anymore.  Did you like the little dude parachuting away?

Weird War Tales #122, pg 2

Pencils by George Tuska, inks by Ernie Colon

An early Christmas present from my wife! I loved the old Weird War Tales series as a kid--especially when it featured the G.I. Robot and the Creature Commandos! Here is a very nice example of George Tuska's take on J.A.K.E. (Jungle Automated Killer Experimental).

Congrats on this cool piece of art.  Your wife got you a great gift.  Did you do the same for her?

Thanks for the kind words, James!

My wife is really cool about my original art collecting, and enjoys participating in the hobby with me. She is not a nerd in any sense of the word like I am, and has no nostalgic or emotional attachment to any of the characters BUT that makes her a very interesting art partner.

Her opinions on art are strictly aesthetic, as she is generally unfamiliar with characters outside of those who've entered the cultural mainstream---but it is interesting to discuss things like page layout, inking style, and so on with someone who doesn't have decades of experience with comics and its idioms and shorthand.

As far as her Christmas gift...

Her one arena of collecting is Christmas tree ornaments, so I try to jump in whole-heartedly in participating in her hobby. She has something like 4000+ ornaments, and every year I will go with her to Hallmark events as well as scour Ebay and other sites for ones that she likes or ones that I think she'll like. She has multiple themes, such as Hallmark, Grinch, circus, elephants, fine pieces from Lenox, Wedgwood, and Swarovski, and many more. This year I've bought the annual releases from Swarovski and Lenox, as well as a necklace she's had her eye on for a while.
