Nice Daredevil...

The latest arrival at the Phelps' household:  Angel and Lady Blackhawk by Mike Grell.

Nice piece, Dave.

I *may* get a commission from Mike Grell instead of going to Adventurecon this year. Been considering it for a little over a week now.

Grell was my favorite artist for a time; loved his rugged hatching and his female characters. When he did the Legion he handled the team style book as well as anyone...
I know that Mike first got work as an afterthought, he showed his samples after not being hired for the strip or design work that he was actually going after. Comics is much the better for that having happened!

She's from a series called Angel and the Ape that originally came out in the late 60s from DC.  There've been a couple of 4 issue minis with them that have come out since then.

She's a detective.  He draws comics and helps her out.  (There's a Grell shot with both of them back on page 190 of this thread.  He did such a break job with her back, I was curious to see how he'd handle the front. ;-) )

Dave, if you don't mind my asking, how long did it take to get the piece once you asked for it?

Around 9 weeks, I think.  The Catskill crew tend to be pretty good about overbooking themselves.

9 weeks doesn't seem too bad to me. There was another artist I was considering getting something from - not one of the artists Catskill deals for, though - and the turnaround time was something like 12 weeks.

I got my copy of Green Arrow: The Longbow Hunters #1 signed by Mike Grell at a con here (issue #2 was current at the time), and have been wanting a piece by him for years. Problem is, I can't decide between Green Arrow, Jon Sable, or Jennifer Morgan!

+++++++++++++++

Sadly, can't afford it, or I probably would. Been unemployed for far too long, and my prospects don't look good, or my CAF gallery would definitely have a LOT more artwork in it. (Fortunately, I don't drive, so I don't have to worry about buying gas or paying car insurance, or I probably wouldn't even be able to afford to go to Adventurecon or get a commission)
