Nobody inks Davis like Neary. Mark Farmer is good, but Neary is the
man.

The only downside to Paul being such a good inker is that people tend to
completely overlook the fact that he's a really decent artist in his own right
...

Cheers

Nice pick up Paul.

Great to see people talking about Paul Neary's work!  I still have fond memories of his "Hunter" story for the Warren magazine, Eerie and he's also amazing to chat with regarding his days as Editor in Chief of Marvel UK when he brought in a very young Alan Davis and later saw Bryan Hitch's first work.

However, when I call him to chat from time to time, we inevitably end up chatting about cricket as we're both avid fans of the game :)  Love that Davis/Neary GL & Star Sapphire!  Best,

Royd

Thanks for the compliments guys. I think Neary is a very good artist as well as inker. My first exposure to his pencils were his run on Captain America after Mike Zeck left. I've been waiting for his commission list to open. When I saw it was, I really wanted to see him work on some Davis art once again.

I think I need to add Terry Beatty to my "to buy" list.  Nice stuff.

Anyway, here's the latest installment of the JSA vs. Spider-Man villains series, featuring Gary Barker's rendition of Hawkman's conflict with Spider-Man's greatest and most persistent foe.

I'm speaking, of course, of J Jonah Jameson.

Oh, and Doc Ock's in it, too.

The "guests" on the bottom were requested as a tribute to the artist's day job and the various hero cameos throughout the Lee/Ditko run (particularly in #18 and Annual #1).  Spider-Man was added at the artist's inclination. :-)

Works in progress versions of two more in the series can be found on the Internet, so hopefully I'll have more to share soon.

Dave, LOVE your "JSA vs. Spider-Man villains" theme--the pairings have been inspired--especially Hawkman and Doc Ock.

Here's a new piece I just acquired from Curt Swan's underappreciated run on the character in the late 80s:

Aquaman #4, pg 8

Pencils by Curt Swan, inks by Al Vey

Lloyd,

Another nice Swan piece for your collection!  I agree about his Aquaman run being under appreciated.

An early Christmas present to myself...

Pat Broderick Captain Atom:

now, don't get me wrong- I looove this drawing. But do I now need to get the other Charlton characters to spell out "M.C.A"?

That is a lovely Captain Atom, Dave.  I have a hard to explain fondness for that late 1980s series Pat drew for DC.  In my mind, the book was great, but I couldn't tell you a single thing about the stories or the characters.  Nice to see Pat completing these commissions in a timely manner.
