Joel-
I got to meet him in New York earlier this year, and was very happy to get to talk to him more at the con. I wish I could've picked his brain for a bit more, as I do alot of statue/product design these days.
He did a great Space Ghost & Birdman sketch for me, and a Captain Action sketch for my brother...

Nice Doc Gerry. The "Ditko" easter egg is a great touch.

Legion of Super-Heroes Annual #2, pg 35
Pencils by Curt Swan, inks by Larry Mahlstedt
Great page from one of my favorite Legion storylines--loved the true origin of Validus! I particularly like how Swan illustrated him: someone you definitely wouldn't want to mess with!
One thing that really surprised me about this page is how big it is: 13.25 X 20.5--was this standard for Baxter paper?

Great pick-up Lloyd! I'm jealous big time! Swan, Legion awesome combo! How'd you pick that up? I'd like me a Swan page big time. Way to go!

Thanks, guys! For me, Swan was the definitive Legion artist, and they always looked 'right' whenever he drew them--no matter the decade they looked like the same people he drew back in the Adventure days, only a little older. I miss that kind of visual continuity in today's comics, where a character might not even look the same from panel to panel.
This page does present a happy problem for me, though: it's quite a bit bigger than my 14 x17 portfolio, so how to store/display it?
