At last I could find a nice sample of Avengers Forever!

I always though this was some of Pacheco's finest work.
It's a shame we don't see his work much any more.
Anybody know what's become of him?

Well, Pacheco's helping J.G. Jones in Final Crisis and doing some covers. The
last time I talked with him in a con (I'm from Spain), he was waiting to get
the green light for a Arrowsmith GN, but some problems with format and
Busiek's schedule and health problems delayed it.
Anyway, he commented that he was tired from 15 years working restless,
and now he wanted to take it easier.

Nice Enchantress sketch.
Sorry to hear Screaming Tiki was a bit of a let down. Ron Frenz is just about number one on my list of artists to meet. If MidOhioCon hadn't been just two weeks ago I would've had no hesitation in making the drive to Youngstown. Here's hoping Frenz can make the MOC guest list for 2009.

He hinted something about Wonder Woman at the last con I was at but couldn't go into details. I know the EUR/USD exchange rate is causing him problems. The same for Irish and British writers and artists.

WW?!? Sound good! I'm looking forward to see it! Although I'm curious
about the direction he's giving to his art, since the last issues in his
Superman run were slightly different than the early ones.
Well, I'm not complaining about exchange as a buyer of artwork to US!
Although it must be hard for him to see his income reduced a 50% in a
few years.
BTW, the Avengers Forever page was sold originally by Jim Warden, since
he was and he is his art dealer. I was amazed to discover that my page
was sold back then for $80! Of course, I paid much more than this now,
but I was surprised to learn that Pacheco's artwork sold so cheap at the
time since it was such a fantastic series.
When I commented Carlos that Jesús Merino was penciling a few
Superman issues and that I was concerned about how this could affect
their collaboration (imho Merino is the perfect pair for Carlos, since he
did a superb work on Avengers Forever and Arrowsmith), he admited that
there was this risk but it was a logical step for Jesús, although he told me
that he was ready for this situation, and that he knew another competent
inker who was also his neighbour. I just hope that this won't be
necessary, and this creative team never split.

Frenz is always at Pittsburgh Comicon in April -- if you could drive to Youngstown, take the extra hour to Pittsburgh in the spring! I love talking to Ron at shows, he's very animated and sarcastic and busts balls (good-naturedly) whenever you ask for a sketch.

Cool pick-ups, John. I agree about Frenz. He's like the Don Rickles of comic books.
Screaming Tiki con sounds it was a lot like how the Motor City Con has become. It is more of a pop culture nostalgia con, rather than a comic book con. Which is fine, except when most of your dealer room is filled with comics for sale. Not to mention all the artists who get overlooked during those events.

Trust me Paul, it was not Motor City con.
Don't do that to the Motor City...
The shame of it was that the crowd was not there for any of the comic
artists. Really, really not there for comics or art.
Anyone who was there for art had no problem getting what they wanted, so
that was cool...
I did have fun, though. Finally got to have diner with Darryl, which we've
been putting off for years now. Great Killer Moth sketch! Spent lot's of time
talking with Ron, Craig Rousseau, Art Baltazar, Rueben Procopio, the Go
Robot folks, Noel Neil, Batgirl...
I also got to leave on Saturday, which I have a feeling was a good thing...
