Bill, I like the idea of your multiverse teams.  Do you give the artists a list of characters you want on the team or let them go nuts?

Haven't read it all yet, not by a longshot, but as far as I've got I'm really enjoying my Hembeck.

I finally posted some of my original art on comicfanart.com this week and am happy to share it with others. While, I expected responses to them and maybe an occassional offer to buy (Though I don't plan on selling anything!), I was a bit surprised to get this email from colorist Tom Smith:

O'man this is AMAZING !! I love it ! Here is the scoop.. When I see a piece of amazing art like this I want to color it. This would look great with my color! LMK if your interested in commissioning me to color it ! And because I want to color it I'll give you another 10% off my price to color it . I can color it digitally or hand color the original or even a good copy of the original if you want See my gallery for samples. http://www.comicartfans.com/GalleryDetail.asp?GCat=1645 LMK if your interested. If not I'm sorry I bothered you and many Thanks for your time. If you not want me to e-mail you in the future about other pieces just LMK and I'll stop sending them. "Note" Because of the recent uproar It is my new policy to "NOT" make prints of commissions anymore , so rest assured that if you commission me the color piece will be exclusively yours to do it what you want. I will only post it in my gallery as a sample of my commission work and that is all. "Best.. Tom Smith "Avengers / JLA & #1 Perez Colorist at Large !"

I'm happy that he enjoyed it, but lived in NYC too long to think that his offer to color my art at a 10% discount is simply because he wants to do the work.I have no interest in paying to have anything colored and love the artwork as is. Not sure if I am feeling put off by it or something else entirely. I'm not particularly angry or even annoyed by it, but it seems like spam to me... thoughts?

youll find you get lots of emails from artists offering services, i dont think theres anything wrong with it.

Mr. Chamberlain, I had just gotten the exact same e-mail myself this morning, didn't give it a second thought and just filed it away with the other debris that comes in. Some of his stuff looked pretty good but I prefer to keep mine in glorious black and white. At least I know I'm not the only one who got one of those offers.

Dave.

Now I feel less special David. :p

Thanks for pointing out the email Gerry. I simply cut and pasted it and hadn't even thought about that personal info.

I'd be open to colorists contacting me to practice their craft on it or coloring it simply because they are really into the piece, but not interested in changing the artist's original intent per say and certainly not going to pay for it when I can sit and gawk at it in its black & white brilliance now. As I said, it didn't especially bother me, just kinda surprised me.

I have a reference file with instructions and characters to chose from, and then I decide along with the artist what characters. If you wanna see the reference here it is:

Awesome Paul. I especially like the Blue Beetles. I had never paid attention to a difference in the way the names are spelled. Just a very cool piece.
