That Galactus and Heralds piece is great! I love how Galactus has a big cheek full of planet!

Nice piece, Bill. Reminds me of the ad years ago where Galactus is eating a Twinkie.

Four months to the day from when I sent payment, my latest from Fred Hembeck arrived today! This one requires some explanation. In addition to comic book reading and comic art collecting I am a huge Bob Dylan fan. I noticed on Hembeck's myspace page he lists Bob Dylan among the many musicians that he enjoys. I became intrigued by the possibility of combining my two hobbies. I began e-mailing Fred about the possibility of him producing a Dylan themed piece for me. The more I communicated with him about it the more I thought he would be able to pull it off. He's not as much a Dylan enthusiast as I am but he obviously new enough. I decided on a Dylan "across the page" commission featuring Dylans from various periods of his 47 year (and counting) career. Here's what Fred came up with:
....and here's the accompanying letter....so what do you guys think?

Joe, I love the Dyan theme. Very cool. I never would have thought to ask Fred to draw real people.
Why did it take Fred so long to do it?
Nice Broxton, Bill.

"Why did it take Fred so long to do it?"
*****
Your previous statement in your post pretty much answers the question. Fred tends to avoid doing real people caricatures but he decided he thought he could pull this one off! It required a bit more preparation, references, etc. so naturally it would take a bit longer. That coupled together with other priorities in Fred's personal life (his daughter's graduation and transition to college) and his career (the release of his new book) ended up delaying my commission.
I just realized in the last two pages we've seen Fred Hembeck tackle Pokemon characters, Galactus and Bob Dylan! Now that's versatility, folks!!

I finally get to see the Dylan piece you mentioned Joe. Excellent idea that is extremely well executed by Fred. Might have to ask for a Travelling Wilbury's piece next time I'm looking for one! :)

Superboy #162, pg 24 (1970)
Art by Bob Brown
I've been wanting to get a Krypto piece by Brown for some time, and I think I found a nice one! I love Brown's work on Superboy, and was very interested to see a page in which he did pencils and inks--I'm much more familiar with Brown's collaborations with Wood and Anderson. Love Krypto's personality here--great stuff!
