Dave, your Neil Vokes piece is absolutely beautiful. Is he relatively easy to order a commission from? |

Sure, just email and ask. :-) Reasonable rates, too.

One of these days I need to track down a Wally Wood checklist. His work pops up in all sorts of places I wouldn't expect.

Now Martin, I hope you realize that the only reason you got that Timm art
for that price was due to my boy distracting me with his patented "bedtime
cuteness"...
When I realized the time (10:03), I said "crap!" and realized that the batch of
eBay listings that I had been watching all week had ended. Then I thought,
"well at least Martin got it.
lucky, no-kids Martin..."
So...
I figure that you at least owe my boy $25...
Next time I see you, you better pay up! :)

Hawkduck?
++
No bigger stretch than Spider-Ham?

You lost me. How are those even remotely alike?

taking a well known character (spider-man or hawkman) and turning into an animal equivalent (pig or duck).
How are these not similar?

Perhaps I'm mindreading, here, but the "Hawkduck?" comment seems
directed not to the notion of an animal version of a human character, but of
a bird disguising himself as. . . a bird.
Which is in no way similar to Spider-Ham.

If that is mindreading, you're very good. Exactly what I was thinking...
(But probably just a good, well-reasoned guess.)

It wasn't meant as a put-down, either. I loved the Hawkduck. The whole
piece really. (And glad to see that someone is carrying on for the great Carl
Barks. Don Rosa is aces.)

Lucky, no-kids Martin? I like that. $25 bucks, huh? We'll see if I "remember" at Motor City!
