Dale, I'd say "nice pick-up" on the Grells but I'm too jealous. :-(

(My efforts to book him have been as successful as Joe Hollon's to get Ron Frenz...)

Dave

I did contact Matt before the show, which resulted in the John Constantine.  The Zorro and the Peacemaker were done during the show.  I've known Matt for a few years now and he is a great guy and does great sketches.  I picked up the Timm piece on Sat. when I made his list for that day.  In case you are wondering, Timm takes a sketch list of 20 names for each day.

Ceasar - do you know if Wagner does commissions outside of shows?  I was hoping to snag him in Baltimore but it's looking like I won't be able to make it.

I think Jim Warden is Matt's art rep. You should check with him.

Dave

I am pretty sure he does and Wilson is correct, Jim Warden is Matt's rep.

I check Catskill.com quite regularly and these were listed on the front page going for 30-50 bucks. Have you been in contact with Scott Kress recently ?

I have a Jon Sable/James Bond commission in mind .........

Dale,

Yeah, I tried (again) a week ago.  Scott says that Mike's commissioning time is going to be extremely limited for the next 6 months while he's working on other stuff.  I can't decide whether to be ecstatic or annoyed. ;-)

But you did inspire to me to attempt to snag a prelim, so thanks for that.  (And nice pickups. :-) )

A special "two commissions in one" piece by Don Rosa:

The frame is obviously part of my JSA vs. Spider-villains group (and the "Great Minds Think Alike" award goes to Wes Wescovich for coming up with the idea shortly after I did).

The centerpiece is a result of Nathan Greno's thread  - "Questions for Mr. Byrne -- any of these interest you?" from early March.  In it he asked if JB was interested in working with Tarzan, The Green Hornet, The Lone Ranger, Uncle Scrooge, Flash Gordon, Buck Rogers, Archie and Doc Savage.  I mentioned in the same thread that it would be fun to see a "All-Star #3" redo with those characters.  Thus inspired I took steps to get one.  Needless to say, the idea evolved a teensy bit over time...

I know it's a weird combo, but that's what happens when a) you ask an artist to do a piece for you, b) they get back to you that a payment they were willing to accept had become available right after you conceive a series of commissions and are whole hog into "casting artists" for it, and c) the artist is fooli- KIND enough to humor you. :-)

(BTW, if anyone's curious, the #142 comes from the issue of Flash that was published the same month as Electro's debut.)
