I really need to read Cooke's New Frontier (though the Absolute Edition I ordered from Amazon seems to have fallen into the limbo land of no longer available - and that seemed to be one of those that I REALLY wanted to have that edition of).
Anyways, what I'm trying to say is, awesome Batman (yet again), Ari!

This one is winging its way to me as we speak:
Ghost Rider #43, pg 3
Pencils by Carmine Infantino, inks by Ricardo Villamonte
I love the sense of motion and speed here.

Nice pick up. I didn't even remember Infantino had done Ghost Rider. There
are a few artists who seem underpriced in the market. Bob Powell and Lee
Elias are two--Infantino, outside of his first Flash and Adam Strange runs, is
another. Villamonte appears to have done a nice job on the inks on this
one.

Kirk said, "there's a lot, a LOT, of art collectors here to be envious of...JByrne, AShapiro, GTurnbull but for me, far and away, one P Greer is totally enviable because of his total SKILL at contacting artists and getting work done with virtually no wait time."

I really appreciate the compliment, Kirk. Sometimes getting sketches/commissions at cons feels like work. It involves a lot of preplanning and hustling around the con floor to make sure I get the pieces I want. As with this year it involved a good deal of follow up and meeting artists outside of con hours to make sure they got finished. I really feel bad because there were some board memebrs like Martin and his wife Pam that I never had the time to catch up with, because I was too consumed with getting my art. They are great people to talk to and I feel I all but ignored them. I feel I need to apologize to them, for being so short at times. I was so exhausted after this con that I've decided to go easy at next years Chicago show. It is just too large to move around non-stop and I need to enjoy myself during the con, not just afterwards looking at some art.

But Paul, if you buy an artists alley table, you can get some of that legwork
done before the show...
Start drawing now. You can't be any worse then some of the people already
setting up...
It's amazing how some shows just fall into place with art. You sit back after
a weekend and think, Damn that went well!
I was amazed at the NY con. After less then 2 days I had at least 7 sketches
in hand, most of them from Friday alone. I would've thought everyone was
booked by the time I got there, but it wasn't bad at all.

What do you guys think of buying those special passes to get into the Cons early. Is it worth it? Those things usually come with a lot of extra merchandise that could be sold to recoup some of the expense of the pass.

Wilson, I bought the cheapest VIP pass so I could get in early, which does help when getting on sketch lists. Regular admission for the show was 50. My VIP was 99. Some VIP's go as high as 1000! The catch is there is no difference in the VIP lining when it comes to the 99 dollar or one thousand dollar. I was at the front every day. They just received better freebies than me. The stuff I did receive was worth more than a hundred bucks, so I didn't think it was too steep to pay. However, I would never pay more than that.
