there's a lot, a LOT, of art collectors here to be envious of...JByrne, AShapiro, GTurnbull but for me, far and away, one P Greer is totally enviable because of his total SKILL at contacting artists and getting work done with virtually no wait time.
Well done, sir.
Once my eBay sales pick up, I'll be able to do the same with a couple of my favorite comic artists.

The bad dark picture is my fault, but the Keith Pollard drawing is top notch, a recreation of one of my favourite Spider-Man covers that Keith originally drew. The wrinkles in the pic are the plastic sleeve over the art.

Philippe: Does anyone here think it's a crazy idea to do the blacks again with a marker ? It's a real dilemma for me.
--------------
It's always strange when I hear people wanting their comic art to look like printed art. I find it cool that those blacks aren't solid on that Next Men page. You can SEE John's brush strokes! You cab SEE how John worked on that page. That's stuff you won't get out of the printed work. That's why it's neat!!! It's production art!!! It amazes me when people are turned off by these things.
If you are thinking of filling in the black areas, you might want to ask yourself WHY you wanted to own original art in the first place...

…Adi Granov…
••
Should you mention his name? Based on his signature, it would seem he
prefers to be anonymous!
**
I thought he hadn't signed the sketch he did for me but he did that little AG symbol you see on Paul's.

That was my point, David.
I am mystified by artists who create "signatures" for themselves that are
unreadable. Even more by those who design little "emblems" that make
sense only if you already know what they say.
I looked at the signature on that drawing and thought " 'Ali G' ?".

I agree.
I suppose in years to come, I could be looking at my sketch and wondering who the hell did it.

A small aside, apropos of this, that came to me just the other day and that I wanted to ask you JB... I was contemplating signatures in general, signing for a Visa charge or whatever, and thought about the fact that while I certainly have a signature that I use, it never comes out quite the same. More like variations on a pre-arranged theme. Now, having thought thus far, I realised that your signature does (at least to my mind) look the same, whenever you do it, and I came to wonder, is it an "automatic" artist thing (i.e. to be somewhat better to be on model, so to speak) or is it a very conscious effort to make it happen? Just curious.

For some the signature, whille not readable as such, is a trademark of their work, no?

Probably true, Michael, but should a trademark or any kind of logo be helpful in bringing the things referenced to mind? If a signature or logo is so impossible to decode that only those who already know what it signifies can "crack" it, you're not really pulling in much new business, right?
