Some of the nicest people you could ever deal with are Whilce Portacio and his wife Joann. I was so pleased with dealing with them in the past I decided to get another piece from him.

Sweet Christmas! Nice stuff, vacation-boy!
Thanks for the thoughts about my boy Adam. We're so happy to be home early from the hospital. We're still dealing with the healing and the feeding problems, but it's going well. I just wish he'd share his drugs...
You're making me want to stop working and start scanning this year's new art. I wish I had more time!

I've held off on Bob Layton for a few years, but since I had temporary insanity went it came to buying sketches/commission this weekend, I figured why not. I think this turned out very well.

Two more pieces to go, Joe. Now I need to start saving up for Mid-Ohio. Maybe Baltimore.

Paul, imho Whilce Portacio is very irregular, but this comission really rocks!
Congrats! The same goes for your another Gene Ha piece!

I know his style isn't everyones cup o' tea. But I've been enjoying his work since his run on Impulse. My other Humberto Ramos piece from the weekend.

Humberto Ramos attended last year at Madrid Con, and he brought plenty of
artwork including pages from Revelations. Some of them were drawn only
with an average ballpoint pen, and they were simply awesome!
Great drawing, BTW!

I'd contacted Adi Granov (for those of you who don't know he designed the look of the Iron Man armor in the movie) before the con to see if he was doing any commissions for the con. He said he was only doing freebies at his signings because he didn't have a table in artist's alley. I was looking forward to getting one of the freebies and had planned to wait in line at his Friday afternoon signing. He had a signing on Thursday evening which I skipped trying to get on as many sketch lists as possible. Jump to the next morning and I'm in line waiting to get into the con and started chatting up the guy next to me. He had seen Adi at the signing the previous evening and had an Iron Man sketch. I said to him that it was a shame he wasn't doing any full pieces. The gentleman I was talking to said that Granov told him that at the last minute they gave him an artists alley table and he would take four commissions for the con and the guy was able to be first on the list. Just my luck, his table was next to Olivier Coipel's. I was waiting at Coipel's table for about an hour and he hadn't arrived on time. Then Adi arrived and was hit up by one guy who took the next two commission spots. Another kid was in front of me and asked about getting a commission. Luckily the kid said no and I was number four. It took him all day Sunday to do my piece but I was very happy with the results. For my patience he threw in a limited edition print of his cover to the Omnibus collection. Which you can see in the Paul's favorite Granny thread. Hope you guys like this one.

Regardless of some people's opinions, Bob Layton draws two characters extremely well: Iron man and Hercules...great Layton! I really like the Whilce Portacio also. Paul, would you be able to email me as i have a commission related question?

I get a serious Sal Buscema vibe from that Hercules – have some wonderful
memories of reading the first limited series many years back! Nice grab!

That's a very nice Hercules! (And I believe people around here know enough
of my opinion of Bob Layton to pick up that that's not a compliment lightly
given!)
