Ari -- every time JB posts a commission you didn't buy you're jealous -- who are you fooling? :o)

Joel,

Am absolutely beautiful Punisher... but, the super-fine, super-clean line detail of the figure, clashes REALLY badly with that ---- shall we say, less than fastidious background art.

I tend to agree..i personally think it's really cool, the less than finished tight background really makes the character look all the better

I see what you're saying Marc...I haven't seen the physical version yet (that gets delivered next week) so we'll see how that is.

Regardless, my main request was for a figure image of the Punisher "looking very menacing" ...I was later asked if I wanted some background imagery or none. When told it didn't cost any more for background imagery, I said "sure, throw it in there."  So I wasn't expecting (nor did I pay any extra for) anything too elaborate in the background.  I think the extra blacks help balance out the image and will look cool when framed.

I've commissioned a few pieces from Whilce.  The commissions that he is accepting are typically for character poses, so the inclusion of backgrounds is a bonus.  One of the nicest guys I've dealt with in the commissioning game.  I think the raw backgrounds work with a character like Punisher(though the posting made me wonder why we have not seen much Punisher from John)
