Here's a Punisher commission I just got from Whilce Portaccio (I really liked the Batman commission he did for Ari, so I figured I'd get him to do the Punisher for me). Very menacing!

Menacing hardly covers it, Joel. Yikes! Wouldn't want to run into that guy in a dark alley!

I forgot about Portacio being one of the early Punisher series artists.  Though I never understood how Punisher could stand hanging out in the jungle in a black leather outfit.  Maybe it's to keep himself uncomfortable and angry.

Nice pinup, thanks for sharing.

Ha! Good point. Keeps away the mosquitos too.

Portacio was the Punisher artist when I first started collecting the series (replaced Klaus Janson I believe). I think the first issue I got was around #8...had the Punisher against some kind of ninja on the cover (and actually, I hadn't been interested in the Punisher up until that point. I bought it bc of the ninja!) So that's why I had him do Mr. Castle.

He and his wife were very nice and easy to work with! They even sent me the breakdowns first so I could approve...

Very nice Portacio. I like that Frank has put the guns away and is about to get personal with some knives.

I like the trees. The looseness of the lines behind the figure is quite Kuberty.

edited for spelling.

Just got this in the mail toady:

This is a pretty special piece to me for a few reasons. First, Howard the Duck by Gerber and Colan is the book that started me collecting comics. Second, c'mon, it's Gene Colan artwork! And it has a nice angry Howard panel and a nice one of Bev. Finally, the Gerber & Colan daily strip run didn't last very long so it was a thrill to find a piece this nice.
