Just received the preview image of a recreation commision done by Bob Layton of the opening Justice Society group shot from DC Special 29. A friend of mine(Rich Seetoo) arranged the commision for me while I was on vacation. I asked Bob to change the image from a vertical one to a landscape and add the Huntress to keep it from being confused with the original. I can't wait until the piece arrives. Enjoy...Brian

I've never seen Layton's take on them previously, but his style is clearly ideal for Golden and Silver Age characters.... stunning!

Unless I am mistaken, that is a recreation of a piece originally penciled by
Joe Staton.

I remember seeing the original Joe Staton in a comic.  Love Joe's work, miss it in my Super-Hero works.  Pretty good recreation from a quick look.

Bob Layton inked some of Joe Staton's All Star Comics work back in the 70's.

Actually, Layton did the original inking on DC Special 29, he was Wally Wood's assistant during the 70s All-Star Comics run and took over when Wally became ill. Layton was Staton's prime inker on All-Star(aside of Giella) for the bulk of the run. And though not clearly visible, Bob does make an "after Staton" notation under his name to the left of Mr. Terrific. I will enlarge it so that you can get a better look......Thanks, Brian

This is only how big the site would allow me to enlarge it. If anyone who runs the site can enlarge it further. I will happily email the original attachment.
