Come to think of it, that´s a damn good scene.  Claremont sure has his moments.

Keith - - I'm not sure. Some animals mate for life and some don't. Maybe the one who don't are the bisexuals! It seems that at least once a year I read some fluff article about someone finding two seagulls (or some other animal) that have formed a homosexual union. I admit, I don't really care about the sex lives of the animal kingdom, but I do think it's interesting that it occurs in the animal kingdom as they operate on instinct. (I think dolphins and maybe one or two other species mate for pleasure - the rest for procreation.)

The two men in question were not presented as "gay".

Apparently you are unfamiliar with the shorthand.

The best line in the Hulk story was when Bruce said the Hulk could "crush steel balls in his bare hands" to the would-be rapist.

And the bisexual label would not be accurate for them.

If they have sex with men and women, what else would they be?

Now having seen the Hulk story, it seems to play upon fear-inducing gay stereotypes I have vague* memories of in the early AIDS era.  In this case, it invokes fear of roving gangs of homosexuals raping men in public showers for sport.  What hope do readers have if even the Hulk is too petrified to defend himself against such deviants?  Without a counterbalance, the story appears to justify homophobia.  What of readers who find themselves attracted to their own sex?  Do they have to fear becoming like these predators?

Dr. Banner being too petrified to become the Hulk? What?

This story was not Shooter's finest moment.

* I was a kid then.

Going by Shooter's logic in this story:

Those two guys in the Hulk story must be serious pro rapists, or Banner's more wimpy than he looks. For the full man-rape experience to be good for the rapists, I'd think you should have at least three guys, preferably four. Oral sodomy, of course, probably only requires the two guys to deliver a serious enough beating to get what they want. But wouldn't that take too long? I wouldn't want to have to beat a guy into submission first. I'd think it would ruin the mood.

I think I've been traumatized just reading it.

I'm curious, how long did you sit there, working out the logistics for the optimal man-raping experience?  Or was it prior consideration, and this bizarre thread just happened to hit the right button?

----

Sexual orientation and sexual behavior are separate concepts. An inmate
who turns to homosexual sex, because it's pretty much the only option
available to him, would probably still consider himself a heterosexual. A
married man who is primarily attracted to men and who fantasizes about
men while sleeping with his wife is better identified as a homosexual.
