And the Dark Avenger of the Night is smiling, even.

Is Whiz Comics #2 (#1) on its way?

Hah! I love it! It's even better then I imagined when I asked JB whether he'd ever consider doing golden-age recreations. Had no clue someone had already made the requests.

By the way, I've wondered from the time I first saw this cover whether the artist(s) saw the cape as split along the dorsal part -- as though the cape was actually supposed to make the observer believe he/she was looking at wings.

Looking forward to Batman #1.

I have to say that these classic cover reimaginngs are my favorite so far of the original Byrne art I've seen on the forum.  I want to see how FF #1 looks especially because JB has done so many homage covers of it!

I like Batman's cape separated into two sections, looking very much like bat wings.  It's funny that as stylized as artists like to portray his cape, I can't think of many (actually, any) occasions where it went back to the original concept.

Incidentally, working on this, I noticed Batman had the same problem as Spider-Man in his first issue. In the title banner on the cover (I left it off, bit Fred included it), his name is not hyphenated, while it is in the story inside.

+++++++++

Many reprint versions of the cover have included a hyphen, though.
