"Start with the blue mask..."

--

That's my biggest problem with it, too. This is something that's developed along the lines of the whole Spider-Man black/blue debate. When Wolverine was still in the brown costume, his mask started having brown highlights instead of being all-black (Marc Silvestri may have been one of the first guys to do that):

But some inkers started getting sloppy and didn't ink in his mask at all (case in point, Todd McFarlane here):

Which is somewhat odd, but didn't look too bad to me, since brown and black are both dark colors at least.

But then Jim Lee put him back in the yellow and blue costume, which caused the highlight to become blue as well:

That's where it starts to get ridiculous. Some inkers just didn't ink enough of the mask at all, and so we ended up with the mask looking mostly blue:

Which I doubt is what John Romita or Dave Cockrum had in mind with their mask designs. If inkers had just inked it though all the time, this wouldn't have happened.

And yet of the countless Wolverine action figures I have seen, every time any the old Toy Biz/Marvel Legends did one of the yellow or the brown, his mask was ALWAYS black.

At least someone gets it!

Hot Toys has been doing some great things with their Iron Man figures. Just wish I could afford them.

Some more stuff: Star Wars Helmets, Matchbox Star Trek, Art Asylum Refit Enterprise, and some Battlestar Galactica Viper and Raider. Also my Green Lantern piece that was purchased at the late Warner Bros. Store about 12 years ago.
