JB ... would you be mad at me if I, well, sort of swipe one of your drawings for a commission piece I'd like to do?

It's the absolutely perfect pose I would want for this character.

If you say yes, I will totally go with something else ... but I REALLY like this drawing.

I am reminded of the old, non-PC joke, about the (insert minority) athlete
who was so proud of the Gold Medal he won at the Olympics that he had it
bronzed.

For those JBF members that still like classic SF model kits:

Polar Lights is rereleasing their C-57D Star Cruiser model from Forbidden Planet to hobby and comic shops this September.  This time, they're including new in-scale figures to go with it:

http://www.round2models.com/models/polar-lights/starcruiser

What they don't say on that page (but included in the Diamond Previews entry), is that in addition to Altairia, the crew, & the Id monster (rumored to be molded in clear plastic), you will also get Robbie The Robot, Robbie's transport, and one of the laser cannons.

For those curious about the kit itself, here's a review from 2001:

Also, Polar Lights will be releasing in November 2009 AMT's old UFO Mystery Ship model kit (aka the legendary Leif Ericson kit).  Rumor has it that Polar Lights will be including the old Leif Ericson parts, no but lighting kit.  The best news is that PL will be continuing the Strategic Space Command line (which the Leif Ericson was spearheading) where AMT left off.

This page has some photos of the Polar Lights booth & products at the recent Wonderfest:

I had the Leif Ericson. It was a pretty cool kit. In fact, tho you could probably never tell without me saying so, some wisp of a ghost of its memory informed my design for the ship that is central to the "mystery" TREK project in the pipeline for late 09/10.
