We'll certainly have to disagree if you think the compared expressions are miles away from one another or if the Doris Day painting is any less suggestive than the Sue Storm statue.
If the painted on costume is a conceit of the comic book genre and should be excused, what is so suggestive about the statue?
The advertisers could certainly be blamed for taking macro-lens shots of her butt but the statue itself isn't way, way out of character or miles away from a '60's vintage, presumably "acceptable" painting of a real life version of what Sue might be.
I admit I'm no expert on women but I really don't see how that statue's character is sexually suggesting anything. It's a cheescake shot but everyone from Marilyn Monroe to Mary Tyler Moore to Doris Day has done that type of thing.

That Invisible Woman statue is hideous. Interesting how these statues so often fail to successfully translate from the original drawings.
The background drawing, even though I think it's too sexual for the character, has a light, even playful touch. With the statue, that's been translated into a hard, slatternly look.

It's an okay "eye-candy" statue to me, but I'm getting more of a "some blonde bombshell cosplaying as the Invisible Woman" vibe from it, instead of a "Sue Richards in a flirty pin-up style pose" one... A little bit Pixar-ish too, if you know what I mean...
Personally, I think the Bishoujo statues from Kotobukiya have done a better job of "going manga" with the Marvel gals (well, to my eyes anyway).

So far! With Rogue and Black Widow, they are starting with two characters
who are already overtly sexual in nature. If they do Sue, then we'll see if
they "get it"!

Kotobukiya should do a Bishoujo version of Aurora first.

That's not too bad. Wanda is tricky. Something far too many artists and writers miss is that Kirby and Lee created her as a very demure character. Altho she wore a traditional "skin tight" costume, she covered herself from neck to toes, and even wore a voluminous cape that could be called upon to hide even more. The Bishoujo version is perhaps a little overt for Wanda -- but not too much. And certainly not as over-the-top as the Invisible Woman mess.

I'm liking that statue of Wanda! And Aurora would be a pre-order and have me counting the hours until the release.

Back a few pages, to the sneak peak of Bowen's Guardian of the Galaxy, I have it on good authority that Cap's Shield on Vance Astro will be removable.
Thank god.
