That's cool.  It appears the fingers are jointed allowing the figure to open or close its hand.

what is Batman's cape SUPPOSED to be made out of?   Adam West had a silky cloth, Keaton had leather, current dude has leather, Alex Ross' statue suggests leather....my head hurts....

I'm actually supposed to do some sculpting for the manufacturer of that new echorche', freedom-of-teach. I hung out with them at a digital arts conference in LA a few weeks ago.

Mr. Byrne, don't know if you've ever had your digital models prototyped but they would look pretty cool and you'd essentially be making your own sculpture...what could be better than a sculpture based on Byrne?.... a sculpture by Byrne!

don't want to hijack this thread so i leave it at this...there are a bunch of great digital sculpting apps out there. I use the FreeForm modeling system, zbrush3, mudbox, and maya.

Many companies use this technology from Gentle Giant, to Sideshow, to all the major toy manufacturers.

I believe the Mephisto I did was the first time Randy ever engaged this technology and he seemed really happy with the results. Hopefully more BD work will follow when his lisence situation is resolved. Working for Randy was one of the best pro experiences i've ever had.

Along with greats like Kirby and Buscema, JB is one of the few artist's who've truly created timeless, iconic versions of some of the big two's legendary mainstays and should definitely be officially commemorated via statue, bust, or toy line. Supes, Wolvie, Batman, Captain America, FF, Namor, Hulk, the list goes on, and on.

I alway saw a big Byrne influence in another one of my favorite draughtsmen's work, Dale Keown. His work, too is very sculptural.

Great forum and glad to be here!

JB's has a whole different left hand, with the dagger/cane dealie. Are there
two different statues?

And by the way, Clint, have you seen
THIS yet?

The left hand on the one I have is definitely not detachable so far as I can
tell. Maybe there are two versions, sold separately.

Sideshow often has website exclusive versions of their products. The Exclusive edition of the Red Skull had a swappable hand that held the Cosmic Cube.

Regarding the DC Direct Sgt. Rock figure, I think this pic is the reference for
it. Upcoming mini from Billy Tucci.

It's John Byrne's fault... I finally got my Ame-Comi Wonder Woman and Cheetah figures!!  The Wonder Woman is okay, but the Cheetah is FANTASTIC!!!

Ame-Comi Batgirl can't be far behind!
