Mowy Wowy! That is one fine looking quartet. I really think Crystal stands out the most in this amazing illo.

The two commissions side by side makes one realize how much fun a Team book composed of these heroins would be. There are some heavy hitters here and they'd be a very formidable line up. That''s the M***** book that I'd love to see JB do.

When I was a young man, and knew no fear, I pitched to Marvel a book composed of four or five of their then front line female characters. I even had a title. I was told no, another artist had the title for a similar project he was working on.That would be about 30 years, now. That was the first of many "somebody else is doing it" projects that I would have started, had a healthy run with, grown tired of and moved on, all long before those other folk got theirs going -- especially since most never did!

JB,
It would seem that "somebody else is doing it" was/is a standard legal response...
I remember working at Nelvana Animation Studio here in Toronto and something simular was said in responding to submissions...

If I remember correctly, she has elemental powers; she can fire or manipulate water, earth, air and fire.

I would think we'd still be crushing on a JB project involving a group of superhero women. I'm reminded that I figured out something about JB's women recently: the reason they work so well, and seem so attractive, is they have strong character cores but, as a man, I still want to protect them. I'm drawn to JB's Sue Richards, Shulk, Thundra, Wonder Woman, or Rita Farr due to the fact that the more they are in danger, the more I want to protect them or have my "identifier" (Robotman, Thing, Wonder Man, ect) protect them.
I don't know if it's a compliment, but JB engages the male drive to BE male (protector, provider, adorer, familial) while demanding the women to be individuals and therefore responsible for their own fate. I think this is a unique ability and I rarely get that idea from other representations of women characters in other modern art.

Nice image of the ladies, JB, and congratulations to Dan. Nice choice of commission material.
JB, this image reminds me of the "Lady Liberators" storyline that introduced Valkyrie, way back in Avengers #83, if I recall correctly. Big John Buscema always seemed to make his women look strong and capable while simultaneously looking soft and feminine. You are, if not his equal, at least a very close second in that regard.
Considering the amount of time and effort you've put into perfecting your craft, it may be something of an insult to use the term "gifted", but I hope you understand my meaning when I say you are a gifted artist.
Well done, sir.

This would make quite a powerful FF. That would have made a very nice one shot story back in the day between story arcs.
JB's Medusa seems very different from his other versions. I think it has to do with the hair. JB's published Medusas had a much bigger hairdo as I recall. The old costume probably has something to do with it too.
Very enjoyable commission.
