Sorry to contribute to thread-drift, but I do remember another kind of
annoying steal by McF from John Byrne's first Hulk run. I actually read the
McFarlane comic first. It was Spider-Man 300 (featuring McFarlane's
amazing "creation," Venom), and there's a panel when Venom smashes
the floor with his fists, causing Spider-Man to bounce backwards. It kind
of stayed with me -- I always loved the panel.
Later, I read the Hulk/Samson fights in Hulk 314-319 and one of 'em is
the exact same panel. I can't remember which issue, but it's probably the
same fight that -- per Nathan's posts -- McFarlane had plundered a
number of times already.
Anyway, here's another great Byrne punch from that era:
Edit: Bah, that was the one that started us off! My bad.

During his Hulk run, McFarlane swiped tons of poses from JB's own Hulk stint. And not just fight poses, either!

I recall thinking as a kid that this was the first time I'd seen a hero get torn up in a fight...kind of shocking, even in the 70s (read this in that little Pocket Books reprint).

Maybe you and Frank Miller can get together and he can write something
hard-boiled and ultra violent for you to draw...

Got me there, JB. (I was thinking about that after I posted, too.)
I'd love to see you do a no-holds-barred out and out horror comic again
someday.

Bruce Timm on art. I got it from comicartfans.com http://www.comicartfans.com/GalleryPiece.asp?Piece=16964& ;GSub=3125
The sub-heading is "Bruce Timm CBA 22 cover starring Magnus"
What is CBA 22?
