Would it be fair to say that Bolland is the most dynamic of "photorealist" superhero artists?

JB - That Hamburglar is Mactastic. Is it a drawing you had previously done, or did you whip it up inspired by this thread?

How do we narrow down that sub-category of artists? Would Neal Adams be included there?

I think it's fair to say that his work is dynamic. "Most" means you're going to have to tell us who you're including among the "photorealist" and who you're not and what makes a style "photorealist".
I certainly don't see the work of John Buscema to be any less "photo realistic" than Bolland's. And Buscema is more dynamic.
Or perhaps you're comparing Bolland to "photo-dependant" artists like Greg Land. Which is damning with faint praise. And also inaccurate.

Or Perhaps you're comparing him to Neal Adams? in whic case the answer is "no".

One of my favorites from Big John was a two panel punch/reaction shot in Avengers #81, where a full-sized Goliath (Clint Barton) punches the Vision flush in the chest and almost breaks his hand.

Anyone got that on hand?

You ask, and my Avengers DVD answers.  The punch in the first panel is damn spiffy too.

Thanks, Kevin. I gotta get me one of them DVDs.

Buscema put so much energy and power into his figures without the need to "muscle them up" like the Image boys were prone to do. He was definitely one of the all-time best.

Love the Hamburgler!

What's the story behind its creation?

Nightcrawler and Wolverine demonstrate their rarely
seen telepathic bond.

So, instead of "gutting" the Ape-Man, Wolverine merely knocks him out with Nightcrawler's assistance. Must be one of those naive, ancient comics from the past!
