Gerry, sorry to hear and see this happen to you. You are one of the nicest guys here. I really wish that there was a way to get your money back. I know it is a long shot but maybe if enough hell is raised from others who have been screwed and word of mouth gets out about this you might get some kind of compensation.
JB, others have chimed in about your offer. I also want to say that is a terrific thing.

Also, I am curious to hear what other type of "commissions" others will receive from said artist.

I must admit to some morbid curiosity as well.

Just wanted to add that I showed this thread to my wife and she also agrees - JB, you're a class act.

I agree with what others have already said.....get your story on every message board and comic site that you can. Goodness knows how may others have gotten the shabby treatment that you have.
And JB......bravo to you. First class act, sir.

Ed, what happened in your case? ------------------------------------------------------------ -------------------------------------------------- well,i met mr.golden at fx con here in orlando,fl. last january. i was led to believe he would finish my sketch by the end of the day.when the time came, his agent ms.witterstaetter told me that they would mail me the comission free of charge when they returned to new york .a few weeks passed and no artwork was forthcoming.i started exchanging e-mails with renee and she would say things like ..."hes almost to your name on the list" "ill ask him to move your name up on the list",then, almost immediately after that, she stopped answering my e-mails.the only correspondence i get now are michael goldens next con appearances. a few months ago,i started a thread asking you guys if i was getting ripped off or if i was just an impatient fan boy.thats why i was reluctant to name him at that time.i was also worried that i might be insulting one of jbs friends, cause i knew that they had worked together.(she-hulk)

Every so often one is lucky enough to encounter a small, unexpected act of generosity and kindness that reaffirms one's faith in human nature. I just witnessed one.

Ed, had you already paid for your sketch?
Oh, and Brian Sagar, thanks for the explanation and link.

Boy there aren't too many "old school" guys running around who can still work in comics, and Mike Golden has decided it's better to "fuck and run" with his talent and the fans' memories of his characters and stories. It's a willfully slimy thing to do, and insults every creator of comics by proxy, considering that creative integrity is so important to guys like Sal Bucema and JB and dozens of others.

Ouch. That's shitty. That sucks because one of my favorite individual comics is his Star Wars #38.
