He's just a prickly pear who should probably not be doing this kind of stuff. He used to throw away his original art pages. So, obviously he's a bit eccentric, let's say. I've heard stories of his childish antics dealing with commissioners before. Renee must have talked him into doing this kind of stuff more, appearances, commissions, etc., and he should probably go back in his shell and stay there.

I still think you did a grand job just because your not famous like Golden doesn't mean you cant be as good as him.Great work anyway your doing Bill Wiist and your work is good value for money all the best with your work.

Boy, this topic is interesting. It makes me want to commission work from
Byrne. I'll have to wait until I'm in a better financial state though because I'd
want to pay top dollar for a really finished piece of art. What I'd love to see is
a scene with The Crime Master, Green Goblin (with the Ditko hood that goes
up his neck) and Spider-Man in a very Ditko-esque noir scene. My favorite
comics of all time is Amazing Spider-Man #26-27, which I think are
criminally overlooked and I just love the pulpy quality of those issues.

No, Bill, you're not - unlike Michael Golden, you actually deliver the work you get paid for. Nice portrait, by the way. I'm sure the customer will always treasure it.

I actually picked up a copy of issue 26 this year. It wasn't in great
condition but it was solid and it just felt good to have. It's funny, the first
comic I remember buying was the Marvel Tales reprint of AMS #39 and
that's what got me into comics. But I remember having the reprint of 26
even before that and even though I didn't appreciate it as much back
then, I enjoy it far and away more now. But that has something to do with
the Green Goblin. In my opinion Norman Osborn overshadowed the Green
Goblin. The Green Goblin was coolest when his identity was a mystery and
he had a personality all his own.

Renee made a post over at TCJ saying things had been resolved. So lets just wait and see what Gerry has to say before anymore Michael Golden bashing goes on.
However, I do kinda agree with what Dave said earlier: Golden may not be the type of person who should be doing commissions to begin with.

Well, via Brian Floyd's link, some anonymous douche said the case can be made that John's offer to Gerry was "grandstanding" designed to make him "look like a hero".
And while Golden has apparently done the right thing, it was only because this blew up in his face. Note his first words on this; does it seem like he would suddenly be motivated by a compulsion to satisfy the customer, or to simply put a fire out?
