Have to say I enjoyed it though I came to it rather late in the run. I
actually liked the Eric Masterson character and followed the team over to
Thunderstrike. I realized that even then, Tom Defalco seemed intent on
writing comics in the high adventure style that I enjoyed even if his dialog
is a bit clunky at times.

Glen, 91-92, at Camp Indian in Mangadae, between Uijongbu and Song San, at the base of Surak San.

I dropped Thor after Simonson's run ended, figuring nothing could hold a candle to it. But I wish I had continued to read it - DeFalco and Frenz were a great team on Spider-Man and to this day are doing great work on Amazing Spider-Girl.

We should request a Walt-Thor Omnibus.

Here's a few scans from Thor #400.

The story has Sinnott inks and the backup feature Brett Breeding, quite different in style but both very impressive...

Ron Frenz's Spider-Man was one of the runs that got me into comics. I liked his Thor a lot as well.

Boy, I broke out in a smile when I saw those scanned pages. You've got to love comics that are so happy to be comics.

Hmm...don't know those.  I didn't venture too far from Osan and Camp Humphries, other than to take the bus to Seoul (and the tour to the DMZ).  Same time frame though!

Edit:  I do recognize the name of Uijongbu now that I have sounded it out, but it wasn't any place that I actually went.

As a massive Thor fan, I have to say that the first thirty or forty issues are
classic, phenomenal superhero stories. Chad, your assessment that these
comics are happy to be comics is dead on. Get all of 'em up to 430 or so,
until they make Masterson take over Thor's body. You won't regret it, they're
the next best thing to Kirby Thor.

I'm partial to the Frenz/Breeding combo myself. Also enjoyed Joe Rubinstein's inks over Frenz on Superman.
