There are some great horror manga books out there. Check out any work by Junji Ito (Tomie, Uzumaki, Gyo), it's moody and quite disturbing, more than any other horror comic I've ever read!

And I second the recommendation for the House of Mistery Showcase books! There is a HUMONGOUS amount of great artists on those books! It's almost unbelievable how well drawn that series was at the time.

Edited because I can't spell.

El Borbah was another Burns classic.

Manga = disturbing!

LOL.

Uzumaki had some good horror short stories (the Jack-in-the-Box tale is my favorite), but I loved Gyo even more!

Remember that story with the human-shaped holes on the cliffside in Gyo? Scary!

Neal Adams did some great horror covers. The old horror comics could convey creepy with out gore.

After posting those covers, it struck me just how much the Man-Thing looks like the Spectre of the Stalking Swamp.

I'm aware that DC owns the Charlton characters, but what about the Charlton name and logo?

Somebody buy the name back and go hire professionals to create all-new characters?

My favorite horror comic from the last few years was THE BLACK FOREST by Todd Livingston, Robert Tinnell, and Neil Vokes.  It was fun, spooky, and wonderfully evocative of the Universal horror films of the 40s.

I love all of the Charlton selections here.  I love ANYTHING from Charlton.  Their horror comics are just a joy. I love 'em.

Along with Chaltons here are some nice scary/creepy fun comic books.  The Kolchak comics from Moonstone are just fantastic.  They are doing a wonderful job with that character.
