I consider Spider-Woman's book in the 1970s to be a horror comic:

I've read horror comics all my life and never found a better one than this:

That's true. Black Hole was excellent.

Did Mike Zeck draw the entire comic?

You guys didn't think Black Hole lost its way among the decade(s) it took to complete? I will give it another read, but I found the tale sort of fizzled as it progressed. I love Burns' artwork, but even more so in the earlier part of the collection. The characters are chunkier and harken back to his great 80s period.

Martin:
The Hour of the Werewolf |
(Sequence 1 - Story , 22 pages , job number D-8091)
Feature Story: Colonel Whiteshroud
Credits: Nicola Cuti (signed) (Script), Mike Zeck (signed) (Pencils), Mike Zeck (signed) (Inks), ? (Colors), ? (Letters). |
I don't know about the stories so much, but the covers are fabulous on that series.
Here's two others by Zeck:

Man, I love Charlton. They also had one of the best logos in the business.
So, does anyone know what the status of Charlton is? I mean, could someone conceivably buy the rights to the name of the company and reopen Charlton Comics? Logo and all? How does that work?

Yes. DC owns at least most of Charleton's superheroes.
Apparently they will be the primary heroes of one of the Multiverse Earths now.

I have to buy and read the rest of Black Hole someday. I have the first couple of issues but lost track of it over the years. I keep seeing the HC at Borders and have yet to make the leap to purchase it.

Charles Burns published an interesting sketchbook about 10 years ago too. I think it was called the Modern Horrors Sketchbook.

Got that one. Good stuff. He did a flip book of freaky faces with Gary Panter that was excellent.
Fantagraphics re-editioned his stories. One of my all-time favorites is the Big Baby story concerning the main character reading a horror/sci-fi comic about t giant, eyeball aliens.
Just pure awesome.
