A few Q's:

1.) Is The Hulk still considered a Monster

**Could he be consider anything else?

2.) Do yuo use a perspective grid on a piece like
this?

**Parts -- like the Defenders shot

3.) Was this done entirely with the Brush Nib?

**Smaller faces and figues were done with pen

4.) How many characters have been affected by
gamma radiation to which altered their
appearance?

**Hm. What is the current count? The Hulk,
the
Abomination, the Leader, Doc Samson, She-Hulk,
the Harpie…

(When I was first putting together ideas for
SHE-HULK I suggested she become leader of a
team of irradiated women who called themselves
the Gammazons. I was told this would diminish the
"uniqueness" of Marvel's gamma-spawned
characters --- which may be the most bizarre
mangling of the word "unique" I have ever
encountered!)

Ok, you spend years struggling with your art and then
one day you're able to do this. Just think about it.

If it makes you feel any better, Flavio, I'm still
struggling!

What was the hardest bit to get "right" in this commission, JB?

The balance between Kirby's "slab" Hulk and the over-steroidic body-buildrer of current vogue. Too far one way, he starts to just look fat, too far the other, and, well, you get most current Hulk comics.

I know it's been said many times over but I gotta say it: You are a true master of your craft, JB.  Excellent piece.

There have been so many of these commissions that just make me drop my jaw in a classic Keanu "Whoa!"  This one has taken a slot in my personal favorite Top Five.  You are the master of comic book art.  The phrase "If I were a rich man...." keeps going through my mind.  Thanks again for sharing this.

Wow, that is so neat to see.  I can't wait for more of these types of commissions to come through.  They are by far my favorites!!

Ok, I've not returned from leave of absence from the JBF, but while making a quick stop by to check if there were any interesting new commissions up since I left...

... and this one forced me out of silence for just a few seconds.

WOW!

Not only is it a montage piece, which are easily among my favourite JB commission pices as a general rule of thumb, but it also features a full little scene of the original Defenders (+ Valkyrie, which never hurts), which as I have said over and over will be the first thing I'll comission from JB if I ever get around to play the commission game.
And WOW! Let me tell you... this one both makes me surer than ever that the Defenders piece is at the top of my list and actually provides me with a little bit of that sweet Defenders pie I am soooo yearning for.

Congrats to the lucky owner and thanks for sharing JB. Great work as always!

And I'll return to silence and my continued leave of absence.

Longevity and bloom everybody!
