The original Man of Steel promo trade was dated 1987, Eric, not 1988.  It collects actual issues from 1986.  Here is mine.  Note the difference between it and the black one above.

In addition to Ronin, The Shadow, and Watchmen, DC also released this TPB in 1987.  This is my first printing.

Dick Giordano signed both of my Man of Steel trades.  Chaykin signed my Shadow trade (on the inside).  I have the second printing from 1987.

The other 1987 "graphic novels" were from Warner Books.  It actually says GRAPHIC NOVEL/SCIENCE FICTION on the spine of the Watchmen trade.  This is my first printing from November 1987.

I no longer have my Dark Knight trade, but I do have this first printing from September 1987 Warner Books.

There were two versions of Watchmen, MOS, Ronin and The Dark Knight
Returns. The Warner Books versions are the ones that appeared in
bookstores. The DC labeled ones went to the comic shops.
Both versions came out at the same time. This is the Watchmen trade that
appeared in the comic shops.

I have two Tempo Books.  Superboy from 1977 and Superman from 1978.

Correct.  I had both versions of the Dark Knight trade, but I sold them and the original hardcover when I got the 10th anniversary hardcover as a gift.

I love strolling down memory lane.  Here is a Superman Pocketbook published in 1978 in Italy that I have.
