I've got a TPB with a Jerry Ordway cover...kind of dull, really. Maybe JB was
busy that decade...

Eric: Honestly been so long I couldn't say. And haven't found any images of them on-line.

You're talking about this book, right? I think what Ted meant was that there
were trades of DC and Marvel characters put out before MOS but they were
by other publishers like Fireside, Ideals and Tempo books. It wasn't until
1986-87 that DC and Marvel started publishing their own trades.

Close to it but DC had released Watchmen, Ronin, The Dark Knight Returns and Howard Chaykin's Shadow the year before MOS in 1987. Besides the MOS trade, DC released Batman: Year One in 1988 and also a few of those Greatest Stories TPB's starring Batman and Superman.
Eric, I have all of these (first prints) and I think the MOS give-away trade pre-dates all of them. I will check again tonight when I post pics.

*sniffs* that's it...I miss that book *pouts cries*
It was left at one of my uncles place along with a small box of comics (small meaning something UPS would ship a hardback book in) and was (allegedly) water-damaged and tossed out. Had that along with JB's Wasp/Spider-Man/Yellowjacket book signed by Stan Lee *runs to bed and brawls*

Those Tempo books were great! Pocket size versions of today's Showcase, in black & white.

And the Balantine Books Superman: The Man of Steel TPB First Edition was dated February 1988. Here is mine. The Blue flying cover was the second printing.
