And adamantium isn't "any metal".

Well, Firestorm or the Molecule Man probably would have no trouble doing something to it

don't forget Element Lad

Actually, I know next to nothing about him. Can he control only elements? It was stated above adamantium doesn't consist of any element on the periodic table. So, would he be able to affect it?

"At certain temperatures and pressures adamantium must be breakable. Otherwise there would be no way to forge it into weapons and armor."

I read an Avengers novel once that explained that adamantium isn't forged at all. It's an alloy, and can only be molded when the alloy is being blended. Once the mixture cools, it can't be altered again, no matter how hot you get it.

As far as wolverines claws go, I absolutely HATE seeing him cut through anything of major substance, regardless of the material. Sure the claws are razor sharp and made out of the hardest substance known to man. Logan STILL isn't strong enough to cut through an oak tree, never mind an I-beam or solid rock.

I could take a razor sharp steel katana and swing with all of my might and I will NOT cut through a 1/2 " iron bar in one swipe, and certainly will do nothing more than chipping a stone slab.. I don't care if the adamantium is harder than the stone or the Iron bar, it is just dumb.

Of course, Wolverine IS a lot stronger than regular humans. And he has no reservations cutting loose, since he will instantly heal. I would never swing a sword at full force partly of fear of cutting myself!

AN observation Gregg (please bear with me, this IS a stretch);

Last night I was scooping out ice cream. It was tough enough to begin bending the large spoon I was using. Then I realized that I had one of these "Pampered Chef" ice cream scoops (the kind with a neutron core or something that is supposed to distribute the heat from your hand to help ease scooping). The moment I began applying this scoop, it went through that same ice cream like I was scooping through warm butter. A major difference from the bent spoon I was using before.

I wonder if Wolverine's razor-starp adamantium claws work the same way - whereas a steel Katana would just be bent like my spoon.

Of course, this amazing theory may only apply to ice cream. I'll check it out when I get home...

Monte - that's the "like a hot knife through butter" principle. The scoop melts the ice at the "cutting"point. Which is why it's easy. In order for Wolverine's claws to work in the same way they would have to emit a form of radiation that disturbs the molecular cohesion in the steel or whatever he's trying to cut. I don't think that's a quality of adamantium.

Monte, you absolutely MUST try the Zyliss ice cream scoops. They're superior to the Pampered Chef ones (I own both).
