Yeah, if Thor can't even scratch it with his Uru hammer, I doubt Superman could break it.

+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

Thor dented adamantium in it's first appearance

Depends which version of Superman and which powers he gets to use. Pre Crisis Superman could freeze anything down to near absolute zero (0 Kelvin), at which point most metals shatter easily. I don't think adamantium would be much different.

Though I have to ask about terminology, because exposing metal to a force will usually bend it rather than break it. Metal has to be "brittle" for some reason in order to break. Doesn't it?

Probably couldn't break it, but adamantium skeleton or not, Superman makes mincemeat out of Wolverine if he is so inclined.

Thor's hammer, hitting with all of his strength behind it, was able to dent a cylinder of adamantium. Slightly.

Or so he claimed--none of the other Avengers could see any damage whatsoever, but Thor haughtily replied that mortal eyes just weren't sharp enough.

By which we can assume that the dent was VERY slight. If we grant Thor the benefit of the doubt (which I suppose we can), then Superman would have to hit as hard as Thor's hammer to do a like amount of damage.

Frankly, I don't think Superman DOES hit quite that hard, though he probably comes close.

As for melting it--possibly. His heat vision is powerful enough to burn even his own indestructible skin. In fact, as JB established years ago, that's how he shaves--by vaporizing his own invulnerable stubble.

Since Superman's hair has not even been singed by thermonuclear explosions, and has even passed unharmed through the core of stars (MUCH hotter than a mere nuke), anything that can vaporize (not just burn but actually vaporize) that hair, must be very hot indeed. I have to think that, yes, it WOULD be hot enough to melt adamantium, though it might take some time.

Cap's shield, on the other hand, wouldn't have a problem withstanding even that.

Captain America's shield isn't adamantium, the true composition of Cap's shield remains a mystery. Although it has been postulated it may be an alloy composed of an adamantium/vibranium mix.

Depends.

Silver-Age Superman: Without a doubt.

Modern-Day Superman: I go with what JB posted, as he redefined Superman for the last two decades.

Wasn't Superman shown absolutely decimating--in one punch--a robot
made of adamantium in Superman/Spider-Man vol. 2?
