I liked this a lot/ I had not see Jonathan Ross before. His lisp is actually quite endearing.
I liked the interviews with Niel Gaiman and Allen Moore, too.
And Flo Steinberg! What a cutie!

Great stuff, thanks for posting the links. I just bought the Ditko Marvel Visionaries, I was so inspired. :)
Moore's involvement made the show, and the Stan interview was great. I agree with Stan's assessment that he was being kind of cornered and forced to answer in an unflattering way. Clearly Stan has a massive ego and is a rock star in the comics world, but I think he was respectful to Ditko, at least now, who knows about back in the day. Awkward moment for Stan who was "forced" to say any artist could have collaborated with him on the idea. Obviously not a good answer, but his response "I would have created something unsuccessful" (if Ditko was not the artist), actually was more or less a compliment.
Loved all the Dr. Strange and other stuff too.

Makes you wish Ditko would go on record and defend himself a little more. I know he did that cartoon page showing how he helped, but still.

There's a documentary on Moebius tonight at 10pm on BBC4 for anyone who's interested.

Affectionate as that BBC tribute was, I do not believe they did Ditko any favors by showing the address of the building where he keeps his office and revealing that his name is posted in the hall. I believe this wonderful, polite 80 year old man they go on about so admiringly will have to relocate now if he hopes to maintain his privacy.
This has seriously impacted my own admiration of Gaiman, as well. So if Wonder Woman jumped off a cliff, would you do so as well, Etta?

QUOTE:
I love the bit with Moore talking about Ditko comparing the Question to Rorshach. |

Mr. A
Moore loves to repeat that quote. It's one of his favorite stories alongside the one where he 'strangled' Julie Schwartz.

Brian, it's not a secret. You can look up Ditko's office address and phone number in the New York phone book. I can do it on white pages dotcom in 5 seconds.

True, Dave. But until this was broadcast, it wasn't on everyone's radar to do so. I would imagine as unlisted number and an office move is still ahead for Ditko.

I don't know about that. I doubt anything will change for Steve, though he might want to remove his name from the office door.

I'm sure Steve has been hounded by fans for many years. Nowadays, are there that many people who would bother him? Besides, he talked to the documentary boys for half an hour and gave them comics, so he probably realizes people occasionally will want to knock on his door. He apparently just doesn't want fanfare and photos, so unless the paparazzi stops chasing Britney and Paris, I think Steve's ok.

I think it's amazing after all these years there are apparently only three photos of the guy accessible via the internet.

Ditko's definitely hardcore. His avoidance of interviews, photos, etc.Reminds me of Bill Watterson. One wants to call these guys crazy for walking away from the $$$$, but at the same time, their stance has to be...admired?
