It was a great program and Ross was very respectfull of Ditko and comics in general. Nice to see a genuine fan make the program.

It is funny seeing a TV personality like Ross get giddy as a schoolboy about these things.

More of a doc to open the general public eyes to Ditko I thought, but very enjoyable.

Yes, Stan clearly did not think that Ditko was the co-creator of Spider-Man, but did not mind Ditko being credited as the co-creator taking into account Ditko's vast input into the series as it progressed. Stan acknowledged that Ditko ended up plotting the series.

I absolutely adored this documentary. Ross has a huge amount of knowledge and love for all things Marvel and it showed. He really was a schoolboy in his enthusiasm for all things Ditko. The look on his face after talking to Ditko on the phone was priceless.

I think Stan had a fair point but could also see what Ditko acheived. He acknowledges that Ditko created the visual character but without Stan there would be no Spider-Man, or many other of the iconic characters. Of course ditko was the driving force after the creation and it takes a master like him and Kirby to bring the ideas to fruition for a successful comic. The best comics have the best artists AND the best writers.

Comics Brittania tonight (BBC4 21:00) looks good too....

Armando Iannucci presents a series which explores the history of British comics. He looks at boys' and girls' adventure comics of the 1950s, 60s and 70s, from the Eagle and Bunty through to Jackie and Commando. Fans such as cartoonists Posy Simmonds and Gerald Scarfe, writers Max Hastings and Jacqueline Wilson and comedian Frank Skinner reveal their favourite comics characters

I really enjoyed the first part regarding The Dandy and The Beano and (not having read that stuff since I was a kid) I have not really appreciated what good work people like Leo Baxendale did on some of those characters. (I probably encountered his work more in IPC comics in the 70's.)

I'd love to see an essentials style reprint of some of the best of that stuff.

I wonder if Stan gives Mrs Lee a co-creator credit for his daughter? Well, it was HIS idea to have sex!

It was very interesting to read hear that Tammy was the real start to the change in boys war comics. Who would have thunk it?
