I'm still trying to find a good tutorial on how to create a perspective grid by hand without laying out points outside the artboard.

JB, what prompted you to start taking on all aspects (writing/penciling/inking/lettering) of production?

And I can't remember - did you ever try coloring a published book?

In my fan days I mostly did everything. Also true at Charlton, except for the writing. At Marvel they would only let me pencil at first. Then came my regular assignment on FF, where Terry was supposed to ink, but backed out. Only available inkers were Jim Mooney or Vinnie Colletta. Jim Salicrup, the editor, suggested I do it. (I’d hinted that I’d be interested if the opportunity arose.)

I did some “painted” (Magic Marker) covers at Charlton.
