But if I did that, then my joke (such as it was) wouldn't work.

Scorpion struck me as a villain who would be terifying to meet in a back alley if you were just a regular guy, but who would be pretty much a pushover to you if you were any sort of superhero with abilities or powers.

Unfortunately, too many writers tend to think that way about too many
characters.

As I have mentioned before, when I got assigned to UNCANNY X-MEN, first
thing I wanted to do was a Sentinel story. Chris said no, "Sentinels are
wimpy". I kept at it tho, and finally said "Sentinels are not wimpy! You just
WRITE them wimpy!" And I plotted what became "Days of Future Past" to
show how UNwimpy the Sentinels could be!

If you have someone who seems like a "pushover", your challenge as a writer
is to show ways they AREN'T!

Good point, JB. My feelings toward Scorpion are probably colored by his appearance on the 1960s vintage Spider-Man cartoon, where he shows up to attack JJJ, but is stopped when Spider-Man nets him up without trouble. Scorpion is then taken into custody, escapes the police with ease, goes back to get JJJ, and is taken out by Spider-Man just as easily the second time around. I don't think he even got to throw one punch. The next time I remember seeing him was teamed up with Mr. Hyde as they fought Captain America and the Falcon, where he fought the Falcon one-on-one and was about to lose before Captain America called Falcon off when Sharon Carter was threatened.

He's a classic character from the MU who had a great look and quirky power but who never really got the top of the line treatment. Another such would be the Cobra (coincidentally another Hyde partner in crime).

Anyone know when the Watcher will be for sale in the UK?

Also, what is the next batch of Marvel + DC figures to be released in the USA, and when?

Mandarin (weighty one this!) and Impossible Man arrived today.  The detail is getting better as they continue on...Nighthawk next.

The first time the Sentinels were introduced by Kirby & Lee, it did not
impress me that much but when they returned under the script & art
of Thomas/Adams, Claremont/Cockrum and then Claremont/Byrne
I considered those stories as some of the highest points of the serie.

Claremont/Cockrum being my all-time favorite.

We're all out of boxes after only two weeks and all we have left to do is put up pictures.  The MattCave is coming along nicely.  A huge step up over the old cave.  I've got my Byrne art to hang as well as my Gator memorabilia, but I'm pretty happy with it.  One thing I'm really happy with is how I was able to display my figurines.  I've been wanting a nice big bookshelf to hold all of my TPB and comic book related books.  Found one I totally fell in love with and am using four of the spaces to display these guys.

I know some like to arrange them in publication order, but I like to sort them by teams, status (villains), or smaller sub-groups in a larger whole (Power Man and Iron Fist and The Defenders in the Loners section for instance).  With this much space, I was able to showcase the X-Men villains with the X-Men.  Couldn't do that with the Avengers and FF because I simply have too many Avengers!

Let me know what you think of the next couple of posts of pictures...

Spider-Man and his Rogues Gallery (fans will notice that I've got the Sinister Six lined up in the same order as they first appeared as a group in ASM Annual #1):

Avengers and FF.  I really like that the founding members of the Avengers are front and center, with the exception of Cap who came a few issues later but, nonetheless, feels like a founding member to me.  At some point I'll have to split these two off as they're the most crowded shelf of them all...

Villains.  Big fan of Galactus towering over everyone else.  Not really a villain to me, but didn't look right with the Avengers and FF.  Not enough room! I'm also a fan of major players front and center with cosmic and supernatural villains behind and elevated...

Loners.  Like I mentioned up thread, I tried to group them together; The Defenders, PM & IF, Daredevil, supernatural (Moon Knight & Ghost Rider), and the rest (hey, just like Gilligan's Island!).  Had to put Deathlok in the front row as he's a favorite and didn't want Spider-Woman to get lost in the back, so she went up with The Falcon.  The Green Hulk is courtesy of a very kind gentleman who just so happens to have his name at the top of every page here!

The displays look oddly mature and grown up, considering the subjects!

Well done, young Jedi!
